Why would anyone want to live on the coast?

why would you want to live in places that are constantly flooded. inst that stupid? for example florida coastline, why would i want to live there, suppose one day a hurricane came, what woud you do then. some silly folks would want to face the hurricane cause their homes are more valuable than their lives. dont you think thats just plain stupid?
