What is there to see between Rapid City and Chicago?

I'm driving across the US from Cali to NY. After Mt Rushmore near Rapid City there is about a 15 hour stretch to Chicago. I want to break it up a little. Where can I stop along the way or slightly out of the way to break up the drive some. I'm looking for somewhere I can stay overnight. Preferably somewhere to camp out. Thanks!
