Have the Roman Catholics ever apologised to the rest of humanity for the horrors of the Inquisition?

or do they think they did nothing wrong, believing that Roman Catholics have only ever operated in strictest accordance with the teachings of Jesus and the bible? Or do they simply absolve themselves of responsibility by disavowing and repudiating the beliefs, teachings and bloodthirsty acts of earlier Roman Catholics?
